stephen chillemi

Stephen Chillemi is a percussionist who lives in the CT area.

In 2002, he decided to start a band to play Beefheart material, Old Farts At Play, later to be transformed into Doctor Dark.

Before the Beefheart band, Stephen was the man behind Invisible Them, an avant-garde quartet.  The band featured a synth / guitar, drums & percussion, bass and reeds.

August 2005, Doctor Dark performed at the Zappanale festival.
Later in the same year Stephen started Doot! together with Peter Brunelli. A couple of months later, he left Doctor Dark.

October 2005, ChollyHoss Productions was born.
From the website:
"ChollyHoss is the brainchild of Stephen Chillemi.  As a multi-instrumentalist and avant-garde torch-bearer Stephen has had the good fortune to work with some fantastic musicians.  ChollyHoss was created as a way to assist these musicians in getting the exposure and support that they deserve.  Stay tuned as ChollyHoss pounds the pavement to bring you the best in music that dares to be different."

July 2006, Doot performed at Zappanale 17. Besides Stephen Chillemi and Pete Brunelli, the line-up featured André Cholmondeley on guitar!

August 2007, Stephen took the stage at Zappanale 18, as special guest for Kimono Draggin'. They performed Captain Beefheart's 'Electricity'.

In 2008, Doot! morphed into Underground Sensation for a one-time-gig at Zappanale. The band featured Kilissa Cissosko: saxophone  (The Voice Of Cheez), Jerry Outlaw: guitar  (Bogus Pomp), Alex Pasut: bass  (Bogus Pomp), Stephen Chillemi: drums, and Annemarieke Schoonderwalt: violin.

Doot! performed again at the 20th anniversary of the Zappanale festival, August 2009, with a very special line-up: Pete Brunelli on bass, Stephen Chillemi on drums and percussion, Michel Delville on guitar, Ivan Leirvik on guitar, Annemarieke Schoonderwaldt on violin and guest Bas Langereis on vocals.

November 2010, Stephen Chillemi did a couple of gigs with Scott Schroen and Jeremy Hogsten, billed as Ugly Radio Rebellion. This line-up only lasted for about five concerts.
