and BRYAN BELLER on the road with TAYLOR GUITARS THRU 10/13! Hey
folks; we're just about to embark on another tour for Taylor Guitars,
featuring myself and Bryan Beller. I'll be playing the GS and T5 guitars,
and Bryan will be playing his AB-4 acoustic and a new prototype Taylor
electric bass. I'm planning to break out a few tunes which we've never
played in the duo format, and we're hitting up a lot of cities where we
haven't played before. And the tour culminates in an electric gig in St.
Louis, featuring the fantastic Eric Slick on drums (he's currently Adrian
Belew's drummer). So the next few weeks promise quite a bit of adventure
-- here's where we'll be, and hopefully a lot of you will be as well: Monday,

few days after I get back to San Diego, there will be another improvised
Circus of Values performance at Dizzy's in San Diego on October 21. Still
finalizing performer details for that one, but I know that it's going to
be something special. More details coming soon in this space. Mike

and Boil That Dust Speck Remastering Report And
a reminder once again that my first two albums, hat. and Boil That Dust
Speck, are going to be re-issued in early 2007, and that the special
editions of both titles (which will feature extremely fascinating DVDs
along with the remastered CDs) are available for pre-order now. We
remastered the audio for the CDs a few days ago, after we spent a lot of
brain-wracking time comparing master tapes for the best available audio.
We've come up with something we're extremely thrilled about. In
the case of hat. I'm especially thrilled that the maximum playing time for
CDs has increased since we first made that album, and parts of songs which
I had to sacrifice first time around will now finally be heard. In
particular, you'll know be able to hear "Lightnin' Roy" the way
it was supposed to be heard, and songs like "Snowcow" and
"The Car Song" will have their guitar solos reinstated to their
full fullness. All in all we were able to add in another three minutes of
music which you should have heard fourteen years ago, so I'm plenty
jazzed. Thanks
for reading! See you on the road. -- Mike

[Chris
Opperman Mailing List - September 9, 2006] Episode
#53: Special Opps: Live @ Level One DVD Pre-sale! You
can preview new tracks, pre-order the Special Opps DVD, and read
Opperman's blog at www.myspace.com/chrisopperman. *
SPECIAL OPPS: Live @ Level One "Bootleg" DVD Hello!
Last night, I changed the video on my [MySpace] profile to a special
preview of the first entry in our "Chris Opperman DVD Bootleg
Series." The
first volume contains the entire August 24th, 2004 concert featuring
myself on piano, Andre LaFosse on electric guitar, Jen Kuhn on electric
cello, Isaac Slape on electric bass, and Kevin Dooley on the drums.
My friend Kat Parsons also appears on the DVD singing her beautiful song
"To Return to You." Also
included on the DVD are hi-res versions of all the short form videos
Johnny D. and I uploaded to my website throughout 2004 and 2005 which were
recorded mostly at Room 5 and other places. It also has the
"Bender Dr." video from the July, 2005 New York City show.
The musicians featured in the bonus videos include everyone mentioned
above plus Mike Keneally, Todd Carey, Andre' Cholmondeley, Jeff Paitchell,
Eric Slick, Clark Freeman, Dave Johnsen, and Jordan Shapiro. The
video was shot by Johnny D. and Steve Laub, except the "Bender
Dr." video which was shot by Jeff Paitchell's father. It's
a really fun DVD and the proceeds are going to go towards the recording
sessions for the Special Opps studio album (w/"The Porpentine"),
so I would really appreciate it if you ordered yourself one! Track
list (8/24/04 show): Johannah / Haasis / Beware of the Random Factor /
Miles Behind / Electric Jihad / Sophia's Dream / Kamp Keneally / Tanya's
Song / To Return to You You
can order the DVD (and all my CD's) direct through my MySpace page which
is www.myspace.com/chrisopperman. And if you have any trouble ordering,
please write me back and I'll help! Thanks
so much and music is the best! --
Chris Also, if you're around Tuesday night, you should come to The Hotel Cafe to see my friend Kelda perform @ 8 pm sharp. I will be sitting in on her composition "Stop the Rain" (available on iTunes) which sounded quite breezy and natural in rehearsal today. Antonio Carlos Jobim would be proud.

Henrietta Bannister writes:
I
have enclosed an attachment of an original 1971 Frank Zappa poster from
his ill-fated European tour. The artwork was by Gunter Kaiser (he did the
Jimi Hendrix poster with electric plugs in his hair) and they were
sent to us to use for the UK part of the tour. However, after the Rainbow
tragedy they were never used and stored in the back of a
cupboard for over 30 years. One of these posters sold a fews years
ago at Christies' for over £500. The posters are huge 45 ins. x 35 ins (120 cms by 89 cms) and are a very unique piece of Frank Zappa memorabilia. We have two each with a slight tear in the corner for only £50 each instead of the normal price of £300 . Anyone
interested in one of these original Frank Zappa posters should email info@rockmusicmemorabilia.com
or phone 01954 268088 (UK) Best wishes Henrietta

place -- MAMOUN's......Lowell MA was incredible...we played in front of
400-500 fantastic students at U Mass....damn i wish that was filmed!!! It
was their 'recital hour' and we went over incredibly. I've said it a
million times --especially since being at Paul Green School Of Rock --I
have so much faith in so much of the next generation... we met some great
young people who were into all kinds of music.... electronic..rock..jazz..classical..
i met a couple future midi-guitarists..and i explained to a wide- eyed
young woman that she COULD indeed MIDI-fy her
violin..(http://www.zetamusic.com/)....and so many of the students were
blown away by the MOOG energy... we had the full spectrum onstage -- a
vintage MINIMOOG as well as my MINIMOOG VOYAGER RME..... Cambridge MA was
buzzing with energy as usual... we played a packed little place called
LILY PAD, Don loves the Kawai grand piano there and played some great
stuff on it..... and last night we were at (as220.org) in one of my fave
cities - Providence RI....what a venue!! performance gallery.. great
bar...and amazing mexican food...i am california burrito SNOB and they

us tonight!! LAST SHOW on this tour... and wish Don a early HAPPY 74th
BIRTHDAY (sep 21 1932)... the tour has been great but as the old saying
goes.... "If you want to starve...play Jazz... if you want to starve
TO DEATH..play electronic music!!" hah hah! yeah - no one getting
rich doing THIS weird shit!! We may pull the plug here in the US for a
while...do this in Europe if at all.. it;'s tough - the people who do come

bands right now -- it's rough out there!!!!! anyway -- see you soon --my
next venture starts..thursday!! with the Al DiMeola tour -- i will be
teching and tour managing --- check this email in a cpl days for the
entire schedule! -andre' Don't forget --check out some free downloadable music and info at http://www.myspace.com/donpreston We will add A LOT of stuff from this tour, including some great video, soon!! SUN

Hi

lazy rib smoking days of summer may be over but the Froggs are really busy
and looking forward to a great fall with new shows and a new live CD. 1.
The first good cause is to support Frogg

Belgian band Uncle Meat plays 'intense alternative metal'. They
recorded their first album in 1995.
Just in case that you wouldn't believe me, here's their 1997 single: "Turn Away".
There's no Zappa link music-wise. Uncle Meat plays up-tempo metal. I've read an article where they were compared to Tool, Korn & Faith No More... |

It's always new when it's a new lineup as I love what different combos bring to the band sound. This is a band i have had on/off since the mid 90s, and i'm real excited about this lineup --eine kleine historisch... Boxy was the original keys-player in PROJECT/OBJECT back in the day..he pushed the band to new levels... then picked up the bass and played in earlier incarnations of HIDDEN AGENDA and BLUES AGENDA..both with Jason Silverio on drums...it's great to have him back in the fold and low-end killin' on the bass....I can't decide what he's better on, keys or bass...or guitar!!! Bob Ramos was the drummer in the FIRST band i was ever in , back in the early 80s - "circle of fifths" (LOL!!). We went on to start a band with Ben Davis called RHYTHM METHOD that took 80s new brunswick (our college town) by storm...then we did a killer pop-punk album with FALSE VIRGINS..it actually sold some numbers in Italy, then the lead singer jumped out of a window.....later Bob and I did our first tour ever - a few weeks in CA with the NICK CLEMONS BAND (the big man's son)......Bob is playing better than ever and always brings his kickass polyrhythms to the table... Finally we are all jamming -for the first time - and it's a great great thing! We're doing a bunch of my original songs, and a couple covers of Santana, Zappa and Sonny Sharrock. Gee, listen to much guitar music, Andre'? Anyway -After all these years, to play with two good friends is a fantastic thing and means more than all the covers and sold out theatres. Amazingly, while we've all known each other over 20 yrs, these will be our first gigs together. ......SEE YOU THERE!!

additional info to Robert Foetsch's story about Tommy Mars from Jonny Swing - 2006 09 01 Yes
- The Minutemen and Bath Tub Ring were the groups that often practiced at
Tom and Dave Mariano's next door, and sounds of those bands of Tom's are
what sparked me to ask him to help start my own band, and he very
generously did. ....Thanks to his helpful start and influence, I went on
to play in the groundbreaking punk scene in New Haven CT, first with the
very excellent Disturbance (see myspace), and then with Future Plan, led
by Cleveland's "Rocket from the Tombs" bassist Craig Bell. (RFFT
also spawned Pere Ubu & the Dead Boys) A
couple interesting Tommy Mars trivia points – when my band needed a bass
amp to match the blue sparkle padded Kustom guitar amp we had, we found
the exact match padded bass amp and bought it from none other than the
Minutemen's old bassist! AND
- Speaking of loud bands practicing - first at Tom's, and then MY house
next door - ....I am fully convinced that a lot of the lyrics and funny
