Belgian jazz/rock quintet The Wrong Object includes Zappa compositions in their live sets on a regular basis.

Wrong Object's current line-up:

Wrong Object recorded Frank Zappa's 'King Kong' for "Lemme Take You To The Beach", the Zappa Surf album on Cordelia records.
July 2004, the band took part in the Zappanale festival, performing a bunch of Frank Zappa compositions, featuring Ed Mann as special guest. Part of the concert got released on the "Zappanale # 15" album.

October 2005, The Wrong Object performed with Elton Dean, and also with Harry Beckett.

In 2006, the band performed with Annie Whitehead, Harry Becket and Frank van der Kooij.
Later the same year, Michel Delville and Laurent Delchambre performed in concert with Markus Stauss.

October 2007, the band did a couple of concerts with Alex Maguire and Robin Verheyen. One of these got broadcast on dutch national radio.

In 2007, The Wrong Object teamed up with The Friendly Dogs to record Frank Zappa's 'The Idiot Bastard Son'. They contributed their version to "20 Extraordinary Renditions", Andrew Greenaway's project that got released on Cordelia Records.

"Blending psychedelic jazz with modern rock sensibilities, the music of The Wrong Object is influenced by a vast array of artists ranging from Canterbury Scene prog rock à la Soft Machine and Gong to Aka Moon, Charlie Mingus and Frank Zappa. While our repertoire contains mainly original compositions, we also play a special set of Zappa covers (including the classic 'King Kong').
Since its creation in early 2002, The Wrong Object has played some twenty gigs in various Belgian venues. Some of them were augmented by guest performances by the likes of tenor sax player Domgué, guitarist-composer Marco Maurizi and pataphysician-poet-vocalist Andrew Norris, whose work with the band culminated in a show held at the Galerie 2016 in Brussels on the occasion of Serge Vandercam's 79th birthday.
The Wrong Object will continue to perform in pubs, clubs and theaters next year and hopes to play Summer festivals abroad."

ELTON DEAN RIP - 1945-2006

Elton Dean passed away on the evening of February 7th in a London hospital due to heart and liver failure, on the day before he was to embark on a series of Soft Machine reunion gigs. Elton's untimely death is a sad loss for many. It also puts an abrupt end to an exciting collaboration and a burgeoning friendship with The Wrong Object.

October 27, Lol Coxhill & The Wrong Object will be performing at 'De Singer' in Rijkevorsel, Belgium.

Soprano sax player Lol Coxhill is a huge name in the free-jazz, improvisational scene.
The first part of the concert at 'De Singer' will be a solo set by Lol Coxhill. The second part will be a collabortion between Lol Coxhill and The Wrong Object.

Alex Maguire (GB) est un des claviéristes de jazz les plus talentueux de la scène jazz britannique. Formé par John Cage et Howard Riley, il a travaillé avec les plus grands représentants de la musique avant-gardiste contemporaine, de Evan Parker à Paul Rogers en passant par Elton Dean, Tony Oxley, sans oublier Richard Sinclair, Phil Miller et Pip Pyle avec qui il a officié au sein d' Hatfield and the North reformé.
Parmi ses projets récents et actuels figurent un duo avec Michael Moore et des collaborations avec Steve Noble et Tobias Delius, Sean Bergin et Louis Moholo.

Alex Maguire rejoindra sur scène les musiciens du Wrong Object ainsi que Robin Verheyen (sax soprano, sax alto), grande revelation du jazz belge et europeen dont l'immense talent lui a valu d'etre l'invité de Brandford Marsalis lors de sa derniere tournee.

A cette occasion, The Wrong Object presentera son nouveau répertoire ete ses deux derniers CDs : The Unbelievable Truth (réalisé avec le regrettee Elton Dean ; Moonjune Records) et Platform One (en collaboration avece Harry Beckett et Annie Whitehead ; Voiceprint Music). A noter que ce dernier a ete en partie enregistre ... à l'An Vert en octobre

1. THE WRONG OBJECT ON DUTCH NATIONAL RADIO (VPRO) The Dutch national radio (VPRO) will air a special one-hour broadcast on The Wrong Object. The program, which is part the weekly "De Wissel" series, will feature interviews, live tracks and other goodies, including some previously unreleased excerpts from the band's recent gigs with British pianist Alex Maguire (Elton Dean, Hatfield and the North, Michael Moore, etc.). "TRANK ZAPPA GRAPPA IN VARESE" - NEW DATES (STAUSS, DELCHAMBRE, DELVILLE, CAMPION) Two members of The Wrong Object (Laurent Delchambre and Michel Delville) team up again with Belgian bass player Damien Campion and Swiss sax player extraordinaire Markus Stauss in a new project called "Trank Zappa Grappa in Varèse".

3. BIG IN BRAZIL : ELTON DEAN & THE WRONG OBJECT’S “THE UNBELIEVABLE TRUTH” in the “TOP TEN JAZZ CDs OF THE YEAR”

Our friend Elton Dean passed away almost 2 years ago, on February 7, 2006. "The Unbelievable Truth" (Moonjune Records, 2007), The Wrong Object's collaboration with the late saxophonist, was included in the "Top Ten Jazz CDs of the Year" of Brazilian daily newspaper Tribuna. The article "Os melhores do jazz em 2007" was signed by no less than heavyweight producer Arnaldo DeSouteiro, who has produced releases by the likes of João Gilberto, Luiz Bonfá, Dom Um Romao, Carlos Barbosa-Lima, Yana Purim, Mario Castro-Neves, and João Donato.

4. VPRO RADIO FEATURE UPDATE

5. THE IDIOT BASTARD SON PROJECT

The Wrong Object have teamed up with The Friendly Dogs to record an idiosyncratic version of Frank Zappa's "Idiot Bastard Son" for a compilation to be issued by Cordelia Records in February 2008.
