De band Sinister Sister kwam tot stand toen Pieter Claus en Lander Gyselinck, beiden al lang in de ban van Frank Zappa, het gekriebel om Zappa's muziek te spelen niet meer konden weerstaan. Gekriebel dat met de komst van muzikanten Michel Hatzigeorgiou (Aka Moon), Maayan Smith (laureaat Toots Thielemans Jazz Award 2013) en Jan Ghesquière vertaald werd naar een eigen sound. Met een focus op de instrumentale muziek van Zappa en diep respect voor de composities gaat dit viertal de uitdaging aan om met up-to-date grooves en moderne improvisatie hun eigen verhaal doorheen de muziek van Zappa te breien. Sinister Sister keert met andere woorden niet terug in de tijd van Zappa, maar brengt zijn muziek naar nu, en als het kan zelfs naar morgen.
