tony 'batman' ortega

Tony 'Batman' Ortega recorded with Frank Zappa, the results of which can be found on Zappa's "The Grand Wazoo" and "Joe's Domage" albums.

Around the same time, Ortega performed with jazz guitarist Gabor Szabo's ensemble. A band that had also featured Bob Harris (1) in early 1971. A couple of years earlier, Ortega had recorded with the Jean-Luc Ponty Experience, a band that also included George Duke at that time.

Ortega has played with Lionel Hampton, Quincy Jones, Art Farmer, Dizzy Gillespie, Paul Bley, Gary Peacock and many others.
